Paris, depicting a bride and her three attendees observed by a lady with lorgnette and two companions on a sofa, the figures with wax shoulderheads, painted features, dressed mohair wigs, sculpted kid-covered bodies and original satin costumes trimmed with metallic lace, flowers and chenille, mounted on inset velvet-covered stands in paneled drawing room setting with two glazed doors, molded plaster swags and cornices, Wedgwood-type porcelain plaques, framed prints, illuminated chandelier and floor lamp, standing figures approx. 12 in. (30 cm), room: ht. 27 ½ x wd. 32 x dp. 20 in. Lafitte and Désirat created a series of dolls to illustrate each season's fashion, with wax heads supplied by the Musée de Grevin. Madame Lafitte was the sister-in-law of the founder of the fashion periodical "Femina" and the dolls were widely acclaimed and exhibited.
