Edixa Electronica TL Pre-Series 1972

Gebrüder Wirgin, Wiesbaden, Germany. Edixa no. 701108, die-cast body with attached gray injection-molded plastic parts for the loosely removable bottom cover, the front section for M42, and the partially cut-off top section. The focal-plane shutter mechanism with the mirror already mounted functions for B-type exposure. It lacks a back cover and includes the original EDIXA GmbH inspection slip and a handwritten note stating that this exact camera was delivered to the Prontor factory on July 9, 1972. The entire DIN A4 sheet on manufacturing and control issues is revealing for historians, because for the Prontor factory it was about a first electronic slotted shutter (presumably worldwide) for a planned 16 sec. to 1/1000 sec. instead of the central shutters that were common in previous years. – From the internal trial phase between Edixa and Prontor for preparation or fine-tuning for marketing, before this camera type and the production at Wirgin were completely discontinued.
