Demaria Lapierre Magic Lantern and 3 x "Cinematographe"

Demaria Lapierre, Paris. The magic lantern has the unusual feature that its embossed logo is upside down. This was overlooked when the sheet metal parts were stamped, but today it has the advantage that if you show this device to fellow collectors without saying anything, they'll start guessing what manufacturer it is. Two of the "Cinematographe" lanterns are identical (the Maltese cross is loose on one), one of which has its original red box labeled "Cinematographe," and comes with two continuous-feed films and four strips. The large "Cinematographe" is mounted on a wooden board, 39 cm high including the chimney, with decorative Art Nouveau ornamentation on the dark blue sides. The drive mechanism is running, for 6 cm wide glass strips, and includes a continuous-feed film.
